Thursday the 22nd of October, former AAU student Beata Dobsa and Nana Kathrine Jakobsen secured the app company Travelli success as this year's winner of the competition Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen. With the award comes 25.000 DKK and other consulting prizes with the worth of +10.000 DKK. It is also a ticket to represent Denmark in next year’s global finals with more than 80 companies from each of the participating countries.
Free and Safe Travel for all Women
Travelli is an app that enables women to explore the world together safely and freely. The app aims to unite female travellers in one app, giving women the possibility to find like-minded women to travel with.
- We see this as a victory for all women in the world that have before been too scared to act on their travel dreams. With this win, we will push our community to women all over the world and ensure our mission to create a world where all women can travel safely and freely, says Beata Dobsa, CEO at Travelli.
According to Dobsa, the company’s mission aligns with bigger global sustainable goals such as fighting gender equality.
- Bringing women together to travel also has several other benefits. Travelli helps its users to be more confident and feel safe by rolling out future security features as city safety-indexes and user-to-user help systems in case of insecure experiences.
Fulfills the Needs of a Huge Costumer Segment
Beata Dobsa founded Travelli in 2018 when she was traveling alone in Malaysia. In her search for travel buddies, she became flooded with messages with other intentions than travel. A problem she quickly realised is shared amongst millions of women around the globe.
Professor of International Business and Marketing at Aalborg University Business School Svetla Trifonova Marinova is full of praise for her former student and her achievements with Travelli.
-This is a fantastic example of innovative thinking ingrained in Beata’s aspiration and experiences from her internship in Asia, strongly underpinned by her exemplary education in International Business using the Problem Based Learning at Aalborg University. Beata saw a real problem and recognized unmet needs of a huge customer segment in international travel. She dreamt high and developed a solution to make her dream alive. A great example for young aspiring students who want to reach the clouds. A simply superb example of hard work, aspiration and perseverance, says Professor Marinova.
Beata Dobsa is Hungarian and resides in Aalborg. She holds an MA in International Business Economics from the former Department of Business and Management, now Aalborg University Business School, and an AP in International Hospitality & Tourism Management from University College Nordjylland, Aalborg.
Nana Kathrine Jakobsen is Travelli’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and has for the last four years been roaming the globe as a digital nomad while running her own marketing agency helping companies around the world to enter new markets and developing new products fitted to an international audience. She holds a BA in International Hospitality Management from University College Nordjylland and an MA in Tourism Management.
Creative Business Cup is a global competition for start-ups in the creative and cultural sector running in the 11th year. The competition recognizes creative minds and innovative thinkers and brings attention to their creative and cultural businesses by motivating, fine-tuning and pushing their ideas further to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
